Job description

Edmonton Region Child Care Association (ERCCA) is hiring a full time split shift child care educator for our Malmo program. Ideal start date is June 1, 2026. 30-37.5 hours per week. Split shift (7-10am, 3-6pm) during the school year and staright shift (7-3pm or 10-6pm) in July and August.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 or 3 child care certification issued by the province of Alberta
  • Experience in child care, out of school care experience an asset
  • Valid first aid certification
  • Clear police check including vulnerable sector, issued in the last 6 months.

Job Description

  • Work collaboratively within a team of child care educators implementing out of school programming for children in grades 1-6.
  • Create weekly program plans reflective of children's interests, and the values and goals of the Flight Framework.
  • Document children's learning through pedagogical documentation and learning stories shared with families through parent communication app.
  • Communicate daily with families regarding program activities and expectations.
  • Closely supervise children at all times, always maintaining child/educator ratios.
  • Create and maintain positive relationships with children and their families.
  • Encourage children to foster independence and to be responsible for themselves and their actions.
  • Model appropriate behaviours, guide children’s behaviour according to the Behaviour Guidance Policy.
  • Daily cleaning and organizing of program space as needed.
  • Attend professional development sessions, and refelctive practice hosted by ERCCA to continuously grow knowledge and skills of early learning and child care.
