27-26/27 Location: Kelowna, BC Exciting Internal Opportunity! BGC Okanagan is accepting applications from qualified individuals for Group Facilitator positions with our Parents Together Program. Parents Together is a support group for parents and caregivers of pre-teens and teens experiencing behavioural, emotional, or mental health challenges. It provides a safe and supportive space to share experiences, learn practical strategies, and strengthen family connections. These are temporary positions with the following schedule: Preparation & Promotion (4 weeks): August 10 – September 7, 2026 Series 1 (10 weeks): September 14 – November 16, 2026 Break (8 weeks, unpaid): November 23, 2026 – January 11, 2027 Series 2 (10 weeks): January 18 – March 22, 2027 Here’s what we offer when you join our team: A positive, supportive team culture where your contributions are valued Ongoing paid professional development to enhance your skills and advance your career Key
Duties and Responsibilities
Conducts group sessions such as workshops and courses to support skill acquisition and build on current skills in the areas of basic communication, anger management, stress management, parenting, self-esteem and other related topics. Recruits and selects participants for the program based on their skills and needs. Plans group sessions in accordance with the program manual and guidelines and the participant’s skills/ needs. Prepares for group sessions by reviewing program manuals and other related materials. Promotes the program by performing duties such as distributing brochures and posters to the community and making presentations to the community. Conducts evaluations and obtains client feedback on group effectiveness, material presented and facilitation style. Reports any difficulties to the supervisor. Maintains contact with clients between sessions to provide follow-up support, if necessary, such as reviewing course materials and client’s needs. Maintains related records and reports in accordance with established policies and procedures. Maintains up to date knowledge of community resources to provide program related information to clients.
Qualifications
Certificate in a related human or social services field, and/or one year of relevant experience. Demonstrated interest in and commitment to working with parents. Knowledge of parents, Agency, MCFD, and community resources. Valid First Aid certification Successful completion of the Agency’s screening process, including a criminal record check.
