Core responsibilities
The concurrent counsellor collaborates with a multi-Disciplinary team to deliver recovery-Oriented, goal-Focused mental health and substance use assessment and treatment for children and youth with co-Occurring concerns. This role involves providing psychoeducation, consultation, case management, and advocating for youth and families while meeting them at their starting point.
Requirements summary
Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree permitting registration under the health professions act, along with coursework or post-Graduate training in substance use treatment or concurrent disorders, and one to two years of direct experience in substance use counselling. Active registration under the health professions act and maintaining therapeutic crisis intervention (Tci) certification are mandatory requirements.
