The role serves as the community resource person and student advocate, supporting, promoting, and involving students, parents, and the community as partners in education. This position acts as a liaison between the community, home, school, and the student while providing support and guidance to students.

Candidates must typically possess a high school diploma plus two years of experience working at a community level with children, and must be nunavut inuit. Assets include first aid, suicide prevention, and mental health first aid certifications, along with knowledge of inuit culture and inuktut language.
