Overview
Teach and support students in the Skills for Life (SFL) program at Carihi Secondary School. Design and implement an effective life skills and academic program for secondary-aged students meeting SFL criteria. Collaboratively develop, implement, and evaluate IEPs in consultation with classroom teachers, parents, students, district personnel, and community professionals. Use modification and adaptation strategies and design remediation techniques for students with complex learning profiles. Support students in alternate settings as needed. Meet diverse behavioural and emotional needs of secondary-aged students. Provide leadership in scheduling and training staff involved in the SFL program. Apply trauma-informed practice. Use assessment for learning to design differentiated instructional strategies. Use Level B assessment tools and appropriate assessment/evaluation practices. Support integration and inclusion for students with special needs and advocate for inclusive needs. Collaborate with fellow teachers to plan, develop, and implement learning experiences for each individual student. Incorporate Social/Emotional Learning and the BC Mental Health Framework.
