The Role The Department of Education requires Part Time Sessional Instructors to teach courses in the 2026 - 2027 Academic Year to the Bachelor of Education Northern Gateway cohort. Instructional duties will be fulfilled in the Whitecourt, AB region. Courses include: Introduction to the Profession of Teaching and Indigenous Studies for Classroom Teachers

Job Requirements The successful candidate will hold a Masters degree in Education (PhD preferred) and have significant experience in teaching or education administration. Instruction and research at the post secondary level is an asset. Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:

Demonstrated success in instruction as well as experience in the Alberta school system, including classroom teaching and knowledge of curriculum. Knowledge of Northern Alberta school environment is an asset.

Candidates must be able to apply different instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with different learning styles.

Knowledge of Northwestern Polytechnic courses and current educational technologies commonly found in classrooms (e.g., videoconferencing, D2L) are desired.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Willingness to work with the Teaching & Learning Centre.

Student Focused.

Strong organizational skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

A high level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
