About the role

Provide K-12 support across all schools for students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

Assist classroom and learning support teachers in understanding student needs and learning characteristics.

Share in the development and implementation of IEPs with Learning Resource teachers and classroom teachers.

Provide IEP progress data and complete required documentation for audit purposes.

Consult and assist teachers and other school staff regarding curriculum and classroom activities requiring adaptation and ongoing assessment/instruction planning.

Suggest environmental adjustments to the school.

Provide direct student service as needed, including academic, social, and self-advocacy support.

Work with EAs, interpreters, transcribers, and Technology for Learning staff.

Share resources and educational information with parents as required.

Collaborate with district staff (District Learning Support teachers, Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, Physical Therapists, Psychologists) to support teachers and students.

Work with PDHSS, POPDHH, and other involved outside agencies as required

Requirements

Master's Degree or Diploma in Education of Deaf/Hard of Hearing.

Canadian Association of Educators of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing (CAEDHH) Certification.

Fluency in sign language.

Qualifications for specific teaching assignments as required for CAEDHH certification.

Valid BC Driver's License.

Ability to support K-12 students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing and collaborate with school staff and outside agencies
