Possession of a BC Teaching Certificate and membership in the BC Teachers Regulation Branch is an asset. Strong commitment to excellence in teaching and demonstrated teaching ability. Ability to identify causes of difficulties with self-regulating problem behaviour and design effective intervention strategies. Strong organizational skills.   • Noted for its progressive approach to instruction, firm belief in Inclusive Education, advocacy for Indigenizing learning, and emphasis on social-emotional learning, the North Vancouver School District is a great place to learn, share and grow!</p></div> <strong>NATURE OF THE ASSIGNMENT</strong> <p>The Board Certified Behaviour Analyst is responsible for applying principles of behavioural psychology to support students in overcoming social, emotional and behavioral challenges that represent barriers to their academic success and sense of belonging at school.
  • The BCBA will join the Complex Learners and Autism Support Services team (CLASS) to provide district and school level support for students who have difficulty self-regulating physically aggressive behaviour.
  • The BCBA will conduct functional behaviour assessments, support the design and implementation of positive behaviour support plans, and assist with site-specific safety training for school personnel.</p> <p>The successful candidate will:</p> <ul> <li>Administer, conduct, evaluate and supervise behavioral assessments, including both functional and industry standard assessment measures.</li> <li>Provide effective delivery of evidence-based behavior services through designing positive behaviour support plans based on assessment results.</li> <li>Prepare plans, train and support staff and students through providing personalized goals for students and group programs.</li> <li>Review progress reports, evaluate behaviour plans and achievement of individual goals & program objectives. </li> <li>Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team in the educational setting.</li> </ul> <p><strong>NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS </strong></p> <p>Board Certified Behaviour Analyst – an accredited graduate degree, proof of coursework in behaviour analysis and a supervised period of practical experience.</p> <p>Possession of a BC Teaching Certificate and Membership in the BC Teachers Regulation Branch is an asset.</p> <p> <strong>GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS, ATTRIBUTES and EXPERIENCE</strong></p> <ul> <li>Strong commitment to excellence in teaching and demonstrated teaching ability.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to design and implement a variety of assessment practices to measure and monitor student progress effectively.</li> <li>Ability to identify causes related to difficulties self-regulating problem behavior, and design and implement effective intervention strategies to maximize academic success.</li> <li>Strong organizational skills.</li> <li>Excellent oral communications, written communication, and group facilitation skills.</li> <li>Superior work ethic and social emotional competencies, excellent reflective judgment, and commitment to building effective learning communities.</li> <li>Ability to positively influence instruction, curriculum, assessment, and social-emotional learning.</li> <li>Knowledge and understanding of the application of relevant computer technologies to teaching and learning.</li> <li>Willingness to be involved in professional development, with an ongoing commitment to learn and implement new methodologies and strategies.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff to support student success.</li> </ul> <p><strong>CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:</strong></p> <ul> <li>A member of the BC Teachers’ Federation.</li> <li>Credentialing with the BACB as a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA)</li> </ul> <p> </p>
