RLST 268 – Cults or New Religious Movements This course examines beliefs and practices of some emerging new religions including New Age, Wicca, Neo-paganism, Scientology, Unification Church, UFO groups, Solar Temple, Transcendental Meditation and Soka Gakai. The emphasis will be upon the historical roots and teachings of new religions, and issues related to their popularity and interpretation Position Requirements The successful candidate must hold a minimum of an MA in Religious Studies, preferably a PhD; have a record of effective teaching at the post-secondary level; have experience managing classroom and online technologies used by the University of Regina (including UR Courses [Moodle]) Preference will be given to candidates who have expertise in New Cults and Religious Movements and have experience teaching online. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada, and the work associated with this position must be performed within Canada. Physical Demands Pay Grade Faculty Sessional
As per URFA Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours The instructor will deliver the course online. Instructors are expected to have one office hour per week. Course Modality Online Course Dates and Time Online (asynchronous) Duration (if Term/Temporary) September 1 - December 31, 2026. Sessional Lecturers may have preparatory work to do before the start date and sometimes may have to deal with grading tasks after the termination date.
