The instructor will teach an introductory course on English language and literacy development for primary/junior levels (K-6), focusing on research-based instructional strategies. They will collaborate with the course lead to ensure consistency across different sections of the course.
Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Education, a Bachelor of Education or K-10 certification, and have Ontario teaching experience in grades K-6. A doctoral degree and post-secondary teaching experience are preferred.

This introductory course investigates current theory and practice related to English language and literacy development, including effective assessment, planning, and instruction, and implementation of the Ontario Curriculum across the primary/junior level (grades K to 6). The course will focus on the development of requisite knowledge and skills to establish a repertoire of research and evidence-based instructional strategies to support students' foundational literacy development. The course will consider a broad definition of literacy to examine the literacy practices of our changing world to include how equity, diversity, inclusion, and indigenization practices support and foster a critical orientation to teaching literacy. Successful candidate will work with the course lead and/or team in order to provide consistency across sections. Qualifications – Required Academic Degree: Master’s degree in Education; Bachelor of Education and/or K – 10 Teaching Certification; Grades K–6 Ontario teaching experience in Language and Literacies.
