Assist in planning and delivering summer camp activities, including STEM and recreation, for youth aged 12-24. Provide mentorship and maintain a safe, inclusive environment while handling administrative tasks and participant records.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a degree or diploma program in Child and Youth or Recreation and Leisure. Required certifications include Highfive, Emergency First Aid, and a valid police clearance (VSS).
The BGC Albion Club Summer program worker will assist in the planning and implementation of after school program activities, trips and events for children and youth ages between 12-24 years old who live in north Etobicoke.
Staff are expected to be willing, when requested, to explain the reasons for a decision or action to other staff or community members, particularly when others are affected by the decision or action. When affected by programming, policies and procedures, staffs are expected to offer information and opinions when relevant for the development of new or changing services, policies and procedures.
1. Program Implementation Develop and deliver age-appropriate activities for youth ages 12-24 with the planning and delivery of daily summer camp programs for children and youth, including but not limited to recreation, STEM activities, LIT (Leaders-in-Training), and Media Arts programming Serve as a mentor and role model for youth, promoting positive behaviour, cooperation, and respect among peers Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and fellow staff members, addressing any concerns or issues in a timely and professional manner Assist with daily program operations, including setup and cleanup, snack distribution, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in programming areas Assist in establishing a positive, creative, emotionally and intellectually stimulating environment within the BGC Albion programs Support the planning and delivery of recreation-based programming, including gym activities, sports, active games, and group recreation sessions that promote physical activity, teamwork, and positive participation among campers Assist in teaching and model to children’s appropriate social interactions and problem solving skills Supervise and engage with participants to ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive program environment Follow all health, safety, and organizational policies and procedures Assist with special events, field trips, and themed camp days Promote and support healthy eating by encouraging nutritious food choices and reinforcing healthy snack and meal options during youth programming Support the collection, creation, and/or posting of social media content (photos, short videos, and program highlights) in accordance with organizational policies
2. Staff and Team Maintenance Report any difficulties/challenges and emergencies to the Coordinator/Manager in a timely manner Work collaboratively with BGC youth staff and supervisors to deliver high-quality programming Identify training needs Attend and actively participate in the following: BGC Staff Training Week (June 29-July 3rd, 2026) ANS and/or BGC staff meetings Any other special event meetings Support organization and inventory of supplies, including replacing and preparing materials for activities Collaborate with staff to identify and address maintenance or safety concerns promptly
3. Administration Assist in recording and maintaining all participant information in Kidtrax Maintain the attendance records and all relevant information on site. Maintain accurate and organized documentation, including incident reports, supply lists, and program logs Submit timesheets on time Support front-line administrative duties such as answering inquiries and directing information appropriately Assist with preparing program materials, schedules, and daily/weekly activity plans and keeping records of the program plans
