Engage students in the learning process, mark assignments, monitor student process, provide timely and constructive feedback, manage and review exam submissions as required, finalize official grades. Check links and content prior to the start of the course, update resources as needed, communicate with students regularly. Create an outline for the lab days, sourcing and ordering supplies, fabricating stints, pouring and trimming stone models, setting up manikin heads, prepare the room and supplies prior to the start time and cleanup afterwards, teach and demonstrate related skills, provide scenarios and answer student’s questions, complete performance skill testing as required, submit any required paperwork to Continuing Education. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE Description Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Level II Dental Assisting Program.
  • Current License to practice Dental Assisting in Saskatchewan.
  • Graduate of an Orthodontics Module.
  • Min. 2 years recent and relevant (2 years within the last 5 years) dental assisting experience in a dental office.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current orthodontic dental assisting principles and techniques.
  • Recent experience in teaching orthodontic assisting skills and/or a recent experience of performing orthodontic assisting skills in a clinical environment.
  • Ability to apply basic principles and practices of adult education to assist learners with the required knowledge and skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Experience facilitating online courses.
  • Preference will be given to current Saskatchewan Polytechnic faculty.
