Job Description
The Youth Activity Worker will support a variety of program initiatives held by community resource centers and the summer day camp program. In supporting the summer day camp program, individuals may work with children ages 6-12 with a focus on preventing learning loss for students and improving education skills. Day camp programs will focus on literacy, numeracy, science, art, and health and incorporate many fun and engaging activities. The programs will also focus on building social connections and resilience. Employment is subject to eligibility under the Manitoba Green Team Program, including confirmation that the applicant is between 15–29 years of age, legally entitled to work in Canada, and possesses a valid Social Insurance Number.
Qualifications
- High school diploma preferred or currently enrolled in high school or post-secondary education.
- Experience working with youth.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Empathetic, non-judgmental approach.
- Knowledge and experience with diverse cultures and economic backgrounds.
- Experience in recreation or nutrition is an asset.
- Experience or knowledge of program development and delivery.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are required.
