50-26/27 Location: Vernon Main Club BGC Okanagan is seeking a Community Support Worker to plan, implement, and evaluate group programs for children and youth with diverse abilities. Using a strengths-based approach, you will help participants achieve their goals through meaningful engagement and personal growth. Our CYSN (Children and Youth with Support Needs) programs provide a safe, inclusive space for ages 6–18 to learn, connect, and develop essential life skills.

Key
Duties and Responsibilities
Participate in assessing, goal setting, and planning support programs for individuals with diverse needs, including developing and implementing Support Plans. Provide input on program evaluation in consultation with the program manager. Assess participants’ needs and develop short-term plans in collaboration with families. Support participants in working towards having independence or semi-independence in the community, by assisting participants with daily life skills, social skills, and/or behavior management. Teaches and assists participants with activities such as personal hygiene, basic cooking, money management, shopping, and household safety. Facilitates physical, recreational, educational, social, and vocational activities. Assists with the intake process to ensure assessment, program registration, and all documentation is completed prior to the service beginning for assigned programs. Identify and manage potential emergency situations, including aggressive behavior, to minimize harm; report concerns to supervisors. Administer medication according to policy and ensure health and safety standards are maintained. Provide ongoing feedback and support to participants and their families. Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation of participant activities and progress, including daily notes, progress reports, and transition reports. Transport participants from school sites to club sites, or out trips.
Qualifications
Diploma in a related human/social service field One (1) year of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Class 4 driver’s licence or willingness to obtain as soon as possible. Successful completion of Agency screening process including criminal record check.
