Job description

School Aged Educators at BACI work in a dynamic team environment to plan and organize activities for children of school age. School Aged Educators work directly with children to stimulate and develop their intellectual, physical, and emotional growth.

Position: Temporary Part Time School Aged Childcare Worker Enhanced (one year term)

Location: Burnaby, BC

Salary

$19.50, Step 2 - $21.50

HOURS

  • 25.0 hours per week
  • Schedule:
  • Monday-Friday 7:00am-9:00am and 2:30pm-5:30pm split shifts.
  • Please note Full Time hours on school breaks and holidays.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Practical experience working with children requiring additional support in inclusive settings.
  • Practical experience working with children 5-12 years.
  • Understanding and commitment to the principles of inclusion.
  • Ability to develop rapport with families and children including respectful and non-judgmental interactions.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with families, professionals, and staff.
  • Ability to understand and follow procedure.
  • Computer skills required.

Qualifications

Completion of Grade 12 with post-secondary training in childcare, education, recreation, or a related field. Early Childhood Education, Special Needs and School Age certification preferred. First Aid, CPR, and TB test clearance required. Immunizations including COVID-19 vaccination required.
