Job description

The Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion, a non-profit supporting people of all ages is hiring a School Aged Child Educator to work in our Out-of-School care.

Description

School Aged Educators at BACI work in a dynamic team environment to plan and organize activities for children of school age. School Aged Educators work directly with children to stimulate and develop their intellectual, physical and emotional growth.

Roles & Responsibilities

Enhanced Support roles support children with additional funding with all Quality Assurance expectations for Children's Services. In addition, they work as part of the team supporting all children when able or necessary.

Education & Qualifications

  • Early Childhood Education Certificate, Special Needs Certificate and School Aged Certification preferred
  • First Aid, CPR, and TB test clearance required,

Knowledge & Skills

  • Practical experience working with children requiring additional support in inclusive settings
  • Practical experience working with children 5-12 years
  • Understanding and commitment to the principles of inclusion
  • Ability to develop rapport with families and children including respectful and non-judgmental interactions. - Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work withf families, professionals and staff
  • Ability to understand and follow procedure
  • Computer skills required.

Location: Burnaby

Salary

$19.50 - $21.50

Hours

  • 25.5 hours per week
  • Schedule:
  • Monday,
  • Tuesday,
  • Thursday,
  • Friday 7-9 am and 2:30-6 Wednesday 7-9am and 3-6pm. The position also includes full days on professional development days and all school holidays.

This position is open to all applicants. This position requires “Union Membership.” The successful applicant will be required to have a Criminal Record Search and Driver’s License Search completed and reviewed by the Executive Director.
