BGC Big Brothers Big Sisters is seeking individuals interested in the following position(s):

Position(s) Available: 1 X 6 Weeks
Status: Temporary
June 22, 2026 to July 31, 2026
37.5 hours/week
Salary Range
$22.48/hour
The key responsibilities of this position will include
- Building positive relationships with children and youth ages 6–17 at various partner sites by encouraging participation in activities in the community.
- [KC1] Demonstrating initiative in planning and facilitating mentoring sessions based on participants’ interests and needs while ensuring activities promote fun, engagement, and positivity.
- Facilitating and supporting 1-1 and group-based mentoring programs that promote participation, inclusion, skill development, and positive social connections.
- Providing direct supervision, behavior management, support and mentoring to the children and youth ensuring positive relationships occur.
- Act as a positive mentor and role model for children and youth, including building supportive one-on-one relationships through a professional staff as mentor model.
- Building relationships with children and youth in order to understand their individual and collective needs.
- Maintaining daily logs and other required reporting to document the success of the programs.
- Collaborating and interacting positively with other team members.
The successful candidate will have
- Minimum of 2 years previous experience working with children and youth in a summer program and/or after school program setting.
- An in-progress degree or diploma in a human services related field.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to function independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills (written and oral).
- Ability to adapt to changing work environments and demands.
- Meet all Canada Summer Job funding requirements to be eligible for these positions.
- Confirmed availability from June 22, 2026 to July 31, 2026 (incl hours)
- A satisfactory Police Information Check (including Vulnerable Sector) and an Intervention Record Check completed within the last 6 months.
- Ability to travel independently between program and partner sites throughout the Parkland and Edmonton area, including access to a reliable vehicle and dependable transportation to and from assigned locations.
- A valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and auto insurance with at least $2 million in liability coverage.
