Job description
Summit Start Chestermere is looking for an amazing childcare professional to join our dynamic, diverse, and multicultural team.
We are currently seeking an Aide to join our Summer Start Chestermere team. This is a fixed-term position running till June 30, 2026, with the possibility of extension based on operational requirements.
To be a successful candidate for this position, you must possess Alberta Childcare Certification Level 1 & have prior experience working with special needs children between 6 and 12 years of age.
Staff must commit to working the entirety of the contract; no additional time off will be granted over the period.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one support to a designated child with special or additional needs.
- Assist the child in daily routines and activities, including arrival, departure, snack time, outdoor play, and washroom routines.
- Support the child’s participation in group activities and encourage social interaction with peers.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for the child and others.
- Observe and document the child’s progress and communicate observations to the supervising staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.
- Work collaboratively with the team to adapt activities to meet the needs of the child when required.
- Create a safe, happy, and fun learning environment for our children
- Proactively provide guidance and support for holistic child development

- Act with compassion while upholding Summit Start policies and standards.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- At least 2 years of experience working with children between the ages of 6 months and 6 years.
- Previous experience working with children with ADHD, ASD and other limitations.
- Prior experience as a behaviour interventionist/ Child & Youth worker is an asset.
- Education in the fields of Psychology or Behavioural Intervention will be an asset
- Clear & Valid criminal record check with vulnerable sector, taken in the last 6 months.
- Valid First Aid Certification (don't worry, we'll hook you up!).
- Excellent written, verbal & interpersonal communication skills (English)
- This is a fixed-term position (till June 30, 2026), with the possibility of extension based on operational requirements.
- Hours of work are directly tied to the presence of their assigned charge; the Aide is only scheduled during the hours their charge is present on site.
