Position Summary

The Training Administrator is responsible for the daily administration and coordination of Skills & Training programs, including the Gitxsan Academy and the Gitxsan Learning Centre. This role supports students, instructors, and community members by coordinating training opportunities, maintaining records and reporting systems, and promoting workforce development initiatives across the community.

The successful candidate will help create a welcoming, organized, and effective learning environment that supports student success, training participation, and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

  • Program coordination & administration
  • Open and close the Gitxsan Learning Centre as required and manage schedules to maximize facility usage.
  • Participate in annual Skills & Training planning initiatives.
  • Coordinate and administer ongoing training programs and learning activities.
  • Manage and maintain the Gitxsan Academy learning software and related systems.
  • Register students for training programs and facilitate in-class training sessions.
  • Respond to inquiries from prospective students and training participants.
  • Coordinate training logistics, including room bookings, supplies, and participant supports such as gas cards.
  • Support instructors and service providers with classroom setup, printing, technology, and facility access.
  • Order and maintain training and office supplies as needed.
  • Student & community support
  • Provide ongoing support to students to encourage successful program completion.
  • Assist students and staff with computer systems and basic technical support.
  • Promote training opportunities and encourage participation within the Gitxsan community.
  • Attend career fairs, employment events, and community engagement activities related to training and workforce development.
  • Manage training-related social media posts and community updates.
  • Reporting & records management
  • Maintain accurate Skills & Training databases, including attendance, training status, certifications, and employee records.
  • Scan and upload certificates, tickets, and training documentation in a timely manner.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Distribute and track post-training participant surveys.
  • Ensure training records and certifications remain current and properly documented.

  • Strong organizational, administrative, and time management abilities.
  • Ability to research training programs, providers, and funding opportunities.
  • Ability to conduct training needs assessments and make informed decisions.
  • Friendly, professional, and confident engaging with students, staff, and community members.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse personalities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Service-oriented attitude with strong multitasking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new software platforms such as Airtable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Familiarity with audiovisual (AV) equipment and classroom technology.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in training coordination, education support, or an administrative role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and community-based programs.
  • Knowledge of workforce development or training programs.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is considered an asset.
