Nshwaasnangong is a place for Indigenous young children and families to honour, rekindle, and express their identities as Indigenous Peoples; where kindness and compassion helps everyone to have a sense of belonging; where we nurture our well-being, while living in sync with community and all creation, where we engage deeply with questions and possibilities. Our Centre offers licensed childcare and a nurturing environment for up to 88 children, ages 0-6, to learn, develop, and connect with their Indigenous culture. Our Child Care Centre is adjoined with our Family Centre that provides a place for young children, families and youth to participate in ceremonies, land-based learning, knowledge exchange and connecting with community supports.   • What we’re looking for:
  • Experience: Post-secondary diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent. Registered member of the College of Early Childhood Educators.

A demonstrated commitment to inclusivity and promoting the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children. Knowledge and experience with licensing under the Child Care Early Years Act. Knowledge of Indigenous pedagogical approaches that support How Does Learning Happen, Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years. Able to meet the legislative requirements for working in a licensed childcare setting.

Collaborate with the team to create a flexible daily schedule for their classroom, ensuring a dynamic and well-balanced day for the children in the room (Infant, Toddler, Preschool). Keep up-to-date on relevant Early Childhood Education and maintain registration and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
