Job Description

This position is supported by the Canadian Summer Job grant. The position will conclude on August 14th 2026. The successful candidate must be a Canadian citizen between the ages of 18-30. Kinark Child and Family Services is always on the look out for qualified Instructor Therapists and would welcome the opportunity to explore the potential opportunity of having you join the Autism Services team. Our Instructor Therapists are responsible for intensive behavioural intervention, providing services for children and youth with autism. In this role, you work with children and youth in home, clinic, centre, and classroom-based settings, both one-on-one and in small groups. This position requires the successful candidates to be available on Evenings (3pm – 8pm) and on Weekends. You will be required to work out of other Kinark sites from time to time based on operational needs. As well, you may be assigned to work in different programs and services within the Autism division of Kinark and your primary work location may be reassigned within a 50 kilometer radius based on operational needs. The hourly pay rate is $27.58 CAD

Duties & Responsibilities

Client Services Kinark Autism Services is a recognized leader in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). We deliver services using a combination of one to one and small group instruction. Our team provides individualized services to meet the needs of each child and youth based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). We strive to support families in the best way possible and we use a family centered approach to identify the strengths and needs of the child or youth with a focus on increasing their skills. As an Instructor Therapist, you will participate in the delivery of evidence-based programming ABA such as administering skill acquisition programs, teaching appropriate behaviours and reducing challenging behaviour, teaching communication and social skills, play skills, and life skills. Regularly liaise with parents to provide progress updates and support parent coaching sessions. Create teaching materials to support programming. Collect and monitor data. Data Collection and Review Conduct behaviour or curriculum assessments. Monitor and track progress by keeping detailed daily records and information on the child’s challenging behaviour, skill acquisition, and other aspects of the planned interventions. Administrative Duties Maintain the clinical binder for each client. This includes preparing datasheets, daily graphing, and adjusting programming based on the set revision and mastery criterion. Participate in agency initiatives to further enhance our supports and services.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Autism and Behaviour Science, Behavioural Psychology, or a related field. *
  • College diploma in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Worker and Developmental Service Worker may be considered. *
  • Candidates that are currently enrolled in a diploma or degree program may be considered.
  • 1-year’s experience in delivering ABA-based programming an asset.
  • Registered Behaviour Technician (RBT) an asset.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, time-management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Travel in the York and/or Simcoe area is required for this position; the successful candidate must have a valid Ontario driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle and be willing to obtain automobile insurance which includes driving for business purposes with a minimum liability of one million dollars.
  • Knowledge concerning cultural diversity and proficiency in other languages will be considered assets for this position.
