Position: Camp Activity Leader
Job Type: Part-Time, Temporary
35Hr/Week for 13 Weeks
Start date: May 25, 2026
End date: August 21, 2026
This position may require some evening and weekend hours
Flexible hours required depending on scheduled programming.
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Lead Manager and the Summit staff, the Camp (Activity) Leader is responsible for assisting in planning, developing, and delivering inclusive recreational, social, educational, life skills, and wellness programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Working both independently and collaboratively, the Camp (Activity) Leader helps create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment. They oversee daily program implementation, support staff, and foster positive, caring relationships with participants while ensuring enjoyable and meaningful experiences for all.
Key Duties and Responsibilities – Camp (Activity) Leader
- Assist in Program Planning & Facilitation
- Design and lead structured daily activities including recreational, educational, life skills, and wellness programming.
- Adapt activities to meet diverse needs, abilities, and interests of adult participants with intellectual disabilities.
- Ensure programming supports independence, personal growth, and social inclusion.
- Support Summit programs and participants as needed.
- Participant Engagement & Support
- Build positive, supportive relationships with participants while promoting self-esteem and confidence.
- Provide individual assistance as needed with daily routines, communication, and participation in activities.
- Support behavior management strategies and reinforce positive behaviors in a respectful, person-centered manner.
- Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with fellow staff and program leaders to coordinate and implement daily schedules.
- Contribute to a positive team environment through communication, flexibility, and shared responsibility.
- Health, Safety & Supervision
- Maintain a safe, structured environment by monitoring participants and responding appropriately to any health or safety concerns.
- Follow emergency procedures, administer first aid (if certified), and complete incident reports as required.
- Cleaning and maintaining the summit building
- Follow food safety protocol, assist and ensure participants are following food safety.

- Communication & Documentation
- Maintain accurate records related to attendance, individual progress, and program delivery.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and caregivers to support consistent care and planning.
- Participate in meetings, training sessions, and reviews to ensure program quality and continuous improvement.
- Promoting Inclusion & Community Connection
- Foster an inclusive, respectful environment where all individuals feel valued and engaged.
- Support community outings, Camp Capilano and in-house events that provide meaningful connections and social opportunities.
- Encourage peer interaction, teamwork, and the celebration of personal and group achievements.
- Professional Growth & Development
- Participate in ongoing training related to intellectual disabilities, inclusive programming, and support strategies.
- Reflect on practices and contribute ideas to enhance the program’s effectiveness and participant experience.
Eligibility
This position is funded in part by Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ). CSJ positions require that applicants MUST meet the following criteria:
(a) Up to 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.
(b) A Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act [S.C. 2001, c. 27]*; and
(c) Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
*International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
