Job description

  • <p><strong>Description of Assignment</strong></p> <p>1.0 Full Time Continuing.
  • Effective September 1st, 2026.
  • This position will provide service to students in 100 Mile House and area.</p> <p><b>The Speech Language Pathologist will</b>:</p> <ul><li>provide itinerant speech & language services to several public schools</li><li>provide consultation, direct service, and home programs where appropriate for students in Kindergarten to Grade 12 (with emphasis on the primary grades)</li><li>complete speech & language screening and assessments using standardized as well as informal measures</li><li>design and implement intervention strategies for students with communication disorders.
  • This will include supporting students across a wide spectrum of needs, including those with learning disabilities, autism, and other developmental disabilities. </li><li>some students may require various forms of augmentative communication.</li><li>participate in school-based team meetings</li><li>provide direction for and work with EA's working in the speech and language program</li><li>provide information about communication development and disorders to teachers, parents and others in the school setting and in the community </li></ul> <p><strong>Salary</strong></p> <p>The salary of this assignment is based on our current salary grid and upon verification of your Master's Degree as well as verification of years of service from previous employers.
  • The current salary range is $80, 347.00 to $123, 266.00 per annum, paid over 10 months.</p> <p><strong>Special Qualifications Required</strong></p><ul><li>Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized institution</li><li>eligible for certification with speech and Audiology Canada (SAC) and membership with Speech and Hearing BC</li><li>valid BC Drivers License and your own vehicle.
  • Access to a School District vehicle is provided for longer distances</li><li>previous experience working in a school setting would be considered an asset</li><li>previous experience working with First Nations students and families would be considered an asset</li><li>demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member</li><li>Criminal Record Check is required for employment with any BC School District</li><li>active registrant of the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHBC)</li></ul><ul><li><strong>Local Area Information and Application Details</strong></li></ul> <p>In School District 27 it is acknowledged that we humbly work, learn, and live on the traditional, ancestral, unceded, and shared lands of the Secwepemc, Tsilhqot’tin, and Dakelh people.
  • This includes the lands of Tsq’escen̓, Stswecem̓c\Xget’tem, Esk’etemc, Xatsull, T’exelc, Tsideldel, Tl’etinqox, Yunesit̓in, Tl’esqox, Xeni Gwet’in, ?Esdilagh and Ulkatchot’en First Nations.
  • We acknowledge that Secwepemctsi̓n, Tsilhqot’in, and Carrier are the official languages of this land. <br></br> </p> <p>We commit to supporting our new teachers (those with 0-2 years of experience) by facilitating a structured mentorship program.
  • Teachers who desire mentorship but who have more than 32years experience will qualify for mentorship based on the provisions within our collective agreement. </p> <p>We also believe in providing Professional Development beyond the provisions of our collective agreement.
  • The District has engaged in long term contracts with several (up to 6) educational leaders.
  • Teachers can expect to see the educational leaders in our District, up to 2 days prior to a Professional Development Day, offering hands on coaching both in the classroom and in sessions (evening or during the Professional Development Day). </p> <p>Our local teachers' union, the Cariboo Chilcotin Teachers' Association, also boasts strong collective agreement language regarding Professional Development as well as financial support for their members to engage in opportunities. </p> <p><strong>Relocation allowance may be offered with this position.</strong></p> <p><strong>School District No.
