Core responsibilities
- Interpret spoken english to american sign language and vice versa.
- Facilitate communication between deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing students and staff.
- Interpret in educational settings such as classrooms, meetings, and events.
- Provide language extensions and vocabulary reinforcement.
- Review educational materials and prepare for interpreting.
- Participate in educational team meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality
Requirements summary
- Completion of a recognized 2-Year interpreter training program.
- Fluency in american sign language, signed english, and sign assisted speech.
- More than 6 months’ interpreting experience.
- Membership in good standing with casli and wavli.
- Understanding of deaf and hard of hearing learners' needs.
- Physical ability to perform duties.
- Ability to work independently and with initiative.
- Flexible working hours.
- Good collaboration skills
