We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cardiology Technologist to join our team as a Lead Lab Instructor for a short-term/Part time teaching opportunity within the Cardiac Procedures course in our Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) Program.
- This is a great opportunity to share your expertise, support student development, and contribute to the training of future MLAs—while maintaining flexibility with your clinical schedule.
- Location: Courtenay / Comox Region, Vancouver Island, BC
- Schedule: Friday evenings, Saturdays (Exact times to be determined)
- Dates: March 27 – April 17, 2027 (4 weeks of in-person lab instruction)
- Compensation: $47-$50/hr.
What You’ll Do
- You’ll lead hands-on cardiology labs in ECG and Holter monitoring, guiding students through practical skill development with real clinical context. Working alongside a supportive instructional team, you’ll coach and challenge students to build confidence while maintaining a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and professionalism within a BC Society of Laboratory Science (BCSLS) approved and accredited program curriculum.
- Lead and facilitate lab sessions, including ECG acquisition and basic interpretation
- Deliver instruction aligned with BCSLS-accredited program standards
- Demonstrate techniques and provide clear, timely feedback
- Support students in developing safe, competent, and professional practice
- Reinforce current clinical standards and best practices
- Maintain a structured, supportive learning environment
What You Bring
- You bring current clinical experience in cardiology along with a steady, practical approach to patient care and skill development. You’re confident in your technical abilities, communicate clearly, and take pride in supporting others as they build competence and professionalism in a clinical setting.
- Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT) – Registered Cardiology Technologist (RCT) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience working as a Registered Cardiology Technologist (RCT)
- Active membership in good standing with your provincial association, including proof of current licensure, registration, or professional membership as applicable
- Current CPR-C certification or equivalent (preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of ECG procedures, and Holter monitoring
- Teaching or mentoring experience is an asset
- Clear communication skills with a student-focused, supportive approach
- A genuine interest in mentoring and contributing to the profession
