Core responsibilities
The child and youth care practitioner develops proactive programs in collaboration with school teams to assist children and youth struggling in school due to social, emotional, or behavioral issues. This role involves providing direct services and support to students, ensuring effective connections between the school, families, and community agencies to enhance student success.
Requirements summary
Candidates must possess a post-Secondary diploma or certificate, such as the nova scotia community college child & youth care practitioner program diploma, along with a minimum of two years of experience working with school-Aged children and youth. Required competencies include establishing proactive relationships with vulnerable youth, applying evidence-Informed interventions, and maintaining valid first aid/Cpr and nonviolent crisis intervention certifications.
