Core responsibilities

  • Provide academic support to indigenous students.
  • Assist teachers with program delivery.
  • Support social-Emotional and cultural development.
  • Collaborate with school staff to create flexible schedules.
  • Assist in trauma-Informed classroom practices.
  • Gather and share student performance and engagement information.
  • Develop and reinforce learning activities.
  • Support learning and social activities in community settings.
  • Monitor and report on program effectiveness.
  • Maintain learner records.
  • Participate in team meetings

Requirements summary

  • Two-Year post-Secondary education in indigenous studies, psychology, sociology, or human service worker.
  • Experience working with indigenous communities and students.
  • Knowledge of indigenous protocols and cultures.
  • Ability to implement first peoples principles of learning.
  • Computer proficiency in microsoft programs.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina and coordination.
  • Class 5 bc driver's license.
