The school counselling and support worker provides direct, short-Term individual and/Or group counselling to children, offers support to caregivers and families, and coordinates culturally responsive system navigation support within an educational setting. This role involves collaborating with school personnel to resolve issues impacting student learning and providing mental health promotion, prevention, and intervention services.
Candidates must possess a college diploma in social service work with 2 years of experience with first nations children, or a relevant university degree, and must be registered with the ontario college of social workers and social service workers. Essential requirements include asist, mental health first aid, valid first aid & cpr, knowledge of evidence-Based crisis practices, and familiarity with haudenosaunee culture and multi-Generational trauma impacts.
