  • It is a place where living, learning, and leading are woven together with the land, the language, and the strength of our Nation.</p><p><b>Role Overview </b></p><p>The successful candidate will work well within the team of Learning Support Teachers, school staff, school Principals, and the District Vice Principal for Inclusive Education.
  • The candidate will also collaborate with the Provincial Schools Outreach team.
  • This assignment will include diagnosing and treating speech, language and communication disorders, as well as providing training and education to teachers, support staff, and caregivers. </p><p><b>Key Responsibilities </b></p><ul><li>Strong commitment to excellence in teaching and demonstrated teaching ability. </li><li>Comprehensive understanding of curriculum coupled with demonstrated ability to interpret curriculum appropriately to accommodate individual differences. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to design and implement a variety of assessment practices to measure and monitor student progress effectively. </li><li>Strategies to identify speech language difficulties early, understand obstacles to learning, and implement effective intervention to maximize academic success. </li><li>Knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed pedagogy and practice with a focus on improving social communication; crisis intervention; and advocacy for students. </li><li>Maintain open communication with students, parents, teachers and other professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to student support. </li><li>Develop and implement programs and interventions to address specific student needs. </li><li>Conduct workshops and presentations on topics such as speech/language development, supporting students with communication challenges, and implementing evidence-based practices in the classroom. </li><li>Actively participate in all four schools' School Based Teams </li></ul><b>Qualifications </b><ul><li>Experience working within a school context</li><li>Masters in Speech and Language Pathology. </li><li>Knowledge of the K-12 </li><li>Successful completion of the SAC Clinical Certification Program. </li><li>Registered membership with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHHPBC). </li><li>Knowledge and successful experience in working with children designated in a low incidence category. </li><li>Successful experience in working with special needs students and their families. </li><li>Successful experience in assisting with the development of Individualized Education Plans. </li><li>Ability to provide a wide variety of speech/language services to students with many different needs. </li></ul><b>The successful candidate will have demonstrated: </b><ul><li>An ability to demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to the needs and demands of the profession. </li><li>A willingness to be involved in professional development, with an ongoing commitment to learn and implement new methodologies and strategies. </li><li>An ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff to enhance the school as a learning community. </li><li>Leadership and strategic insight, fostering effective school and community relations </li><li>Expertise in implementing BC Curriculum and research-based strategies, with a focus on SLP integration to enhance student learning </li><li>Commitment to student engagement, and continuous improvement through data-driven accountability systems </li><li>Experience in administering assessments to inform instructional practices and set district achievement goals </li><li>Deep respect for diversity, with a commitment to reconciliation and integrating Indigenous perspectives, particularly Nisga'a culture and history </li><li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of positively influencing behavior and fostering collaborative environments </li><li>Superior work ethic and social emotional competencies, excellent reflective judgment, and commitment to building effective learning communities </li><li>Confidence and proficiency in using instructional organizers, concepts, and strategies that actively engage all students in learning. </li></ul><b>Application Requirements </b><p>Interested applications are invited to submit the following to<a></a>: </p><ul><li>A detailed resume and cover letter </li><li>A minimum of three references, including one from a current/recent supervisor </li><li>A one-page statement outlining your philosophy on learning and leadership, with a focus on action and impact </li></ul>Compensation is aligned with the BCTF salary grid for teaching staff, which ranges between $87,573 - $109, 466 annually. <p>For further clarification please contact Bryce Recsky, Director of Instruction, brecsky@nisgaa.bc.ca </p><p>This posting will remain open until filled<strong>.</strong><strong> </strong>We thank all applicants for their interest in the Nisga'a School District, only those who are short-listed will be contacted. </p><p>Competition #26-12 </p><p> Attention: Human Resource Department </p><p>Nisga'a School District No.
