Az-Zahraa Islamic Academy is seeking an applications for an immediate Full-time Elementary Quran and Islamic Studies Teacher The Az-Zahraa Islamic Academy (AZIA) is an independent Junior Kindergarten Grade 7 school that is inspired by the doctrines and values of the Islamic faith and offers a broad and balanced program that is in line with BC's redesigned curriculum.

We are inviting applications from caring individuals who are sensitive to the needs of children and who desire to be part of an enthusiastic team. Job Description: Az-Zahraa Islamic Academy is seeking an experienced and passionate Islamic and Quran Teacher to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering a positive and engaging learning environment while teaching Quranic recitation with a focus on proper Tajweed and pronunciation to elementary students. Duties: <ul> <li>Teach Quranic recitation with a focus on proper Tajweed and pronunciation to elementary students, using a systematic plan of lessons and discussions.</li> <li>Prepare courses for presentation according to the approved curriculum, developing lesson plans and instructional materials tailored to varying levels of Quranic proficiency.</li> <li>Create an engaging and supportive learning environment that promotes students' physical, mental, and social development, fostering spiritual and personal growth.</li> <li>Assess students' progress through the preparation, administration, and correction of tests, providing feedback to ensure continuous improvement.</li> <li>Evaluate individual learning needs and prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help.</li> <li>Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate Islamic values across the curriculum and participate in staff meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.</li> <li>Assign and grade homework, discussing results with students, parents, and school officials to promote transparency and improvement.</li> <li>Participate in school events and contribute to a vibrant school culture.</li> <li>May supervise teachers' aides and student teachers as necessary.</li> </ul> Requirements: Education: <ul> <li>A bachelor's degree in education. </li> </ul> Work Experience: <ul> <li>Minimum 3-5 years of teaching experience.</li> </ul> Skills and Qualifications: <ul> <li>Strong proficiency in Quranic recitation with an emphasis on Tajweed. </li> <li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to working with young children.</li> <li>A strong understanding of Islamic values and the ability to serve as a positive role model for students.</li> <li>Experience working in an Islamic school or community setting is an asset.</li> <li>Letter of Permission or independent School Certification is required from Ministry of Education</li> <li>A relevant certification in Quranic studies or Islamic education is highly desirable.</li> </ul> Language of work: <ul> <li>English. </li> </ul> Benefits: <ul> <li>Extended Health Insurance</li> <li>Long Term Disability</li> <li>Health Spending Account</li> <li>RRSP</li> </ul> Work Conditions: <ul> <li>Work will be carried out at Az-Zahraa Islamic Academy in Richmond, BC.</li> <li>Some participation in school events and community activities outside of classroom hours may be required.</li> </ul> Wage: $42.00 per hour How to Apply: All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.
