Overview
Independently immunize students and complete tuberculin skin tests for a large volume of students entering health care programs. Provide health education and counseling and refer students to appropriate resources. Initiate and deliver health education and wellness. Prepare and revise health services procedures. Order equipment and supplies for the health centre. Maintain immunization records and daily logs of services provided. Maintain relationships with external resource professionals and agencies. Assess and provide treatment for minor injuries and illness; refer more serious cases to medical attention. Report accidents to appropriate personnel and make recommendations when necessary. Complete insurance and compensation forms. Provide nursing care and/or health counselling for students’ minor illnesses and injuries. Initiate and collaborate on development and implementation of standard operating procedures for Student Health Nurse services. Independently manage procurement card, campus health office, health/medical supplies, patient files and documentation, and health office statistics and reports. Develop, manage, deliver, and execute required immunizations for students in School of Nursing and/or School of Health Sciences programs. Respond to, direct, and manage critical medical and/or psychiatric emergencies on campus
