Position Summary

SPAN 111: Introductory Spanish I Focuses on the acquisition of basic skills of pronunciation, reading, writing, and conversation, for students with little or no Spanish experience. Includes instruction in basic grammar, syntax, and vocabulary for culturally appropriate interaction. Position Requirements

At least a B.A. in a related discipline.

Native or near-native fluency in the target language as well as in English.

Experience and evidence of teaching ability in the relevant language. Applicants with more teaching experience in the area in question, at the university level, will normally have preference over others. Physical Demands Pay Grade Faculty Sessional

Salary Range

As per URFA Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours The instructor will deliver the course on campus face-to-face on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 PM – 8:15 PM. Instructors are expected to have one office hour per week. Sessional Lecturers may have preparatory work to do before the start date and sometimes may have to deal with grading tasks after the termination date. Per the URFA Collective Agreement 2021-2027: Applications for sessional lecturer positions shall include a curriculum vitae and a teaching dossier. This shall be kept on file for up to three years. These academic staff members may then make a written application to the relevant academic unit for upcoming teaching positions without including the entire file. Sessional Lecturers may also provide updated information to the file at any time. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada, and the work associated with this position must be performed within Canada.
