<p><strong>ELEMENTARY TEACHER- MUSIC</strong></p> <p><strong>TEMPORARY- FULL TIME / PART TIME and TEACHER-ON-CALL- EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 8, 2026<br></br> <br></br> </strong></p> <p>The Burnaby School District is on the traditional territory of the Coast Salish Nations of Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh and Squamish. </p> <p>The Burnaby School District is the fourth largest in BC.

The District operates 41 elementary and 8 secondary schools, including a range of district and provincial resource programs.

The District supports and provides learning to 25,000 Kindergarten to Grade 12 (K-12) students and to more than 6,000 adult learners through our established Burnaby Community & Continuing Education program.

These positions are effective September 8, 2026.</strong></p> <p><strong>Required TEACHER Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree or academic equivalent in an appropriate field of study;</li> <li>Relevant methodology courses</li> <li>Valid BC Teaching Certificate</li> <li>Knowledge of a broad range of effective instructional strategies in order to meet the diverse needs of all students;</li> <li>Knowledge of consultative and collaborative strategies; and</li> <li>Recent, successful, substantive teaching or practicum experience in the relevant grade level</li> </ul> Required MUSIC Qualifications: <ul> <li>A Bachelor of Music, Music Education degree or academic equivalent</li> <li>A major concentration in music education in an applicable area such as Orff (Level II) or Kodaly</li> <li>Course work and/or knowledge of choral music instruction for young voices</li> <li>A Music education teaching methodology course(s) in the relevant areas</li> </ul> <p><strong>Application Details</strong>:</p> <p>If you have the following qualifications, and are an advocate for public education, we welcome your application, please provide: cover letter, resume, a copy of your BC Teachers’ Certificate (TRB), a copy of your transcripts, a copy of your final practicum report, and a statement of your philosophy to <a></a> or <a></a>.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (or academic equivalent) in an appropriate field.

Relevant methodology courses.

Valid BC Teaching Certificate.

Recent, successful, substantive teaching or practicum experience in the relevant grade level.

Bachelor of Music or Music Education degree (or academic equivalent).

Major concentration in music education (e.g., Orff Level II or Kodaly).

Course work and/or knowledge of choral music instruction for young voices.

Music education teaching methodology course(s) in relevant areas.
