About the role

Deliver engaging classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction to dental assisting students with a focus on orthodontics. Facilitate student learning using adult education best practices and maintain accurate academic records.

Discovery Community College (DCC) is expanding its Dental Assisting faculty team and is seeking an experienced Licensed Dental Assistant with extensive orthodontic experience to support the delivery of high-quality dental assisting education. We currently have multiple teaching opportunities available and are looking for passionate professionals who are eager to share their expertise and help prepare the next generation of Dental Assistants.

Hours

  • Approximately 24–32 hours per week
  • Schedule: Day, evening, and weekend opportunities may be available based on operational needs. Applicants are encouraged to specify their availability. Compensation - $33 to $38 or higher depending on experience. Essential Qualifications Education and Credentials Current Licensed Dental Assistant (LDA/CDA) certification in good standing Minimum five (5) years of recent orthodontic assisting experience in a clinical orthodontic practice Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Orthodontic module/certification as required by the BCCOHP Provincial Instructor Diploma (PIDP) or equivalent adult education, teaching, or instructor training certification Experience with digital orthodontic technologies, including scanners, digital records, and orthodontic software Clinical Expertise Comprehensive knowledge of current orthodontic procedures and treatment planning, including: Bracket placement and removal Arch wire changes Band fitting and cementation Retainer delivery and patient instruction Digital impressions and intraoral scanning Infection prevention and control protocols Orthodontic records and documentation Candidates should also demonstrate familiarity with current orthodontic materials, equipment, and emerging technologies.
