  • Description: Assist the Aquatics staff on duty while building relationships with members and participants. Demonstrate knowledge of pool rules, YMCA mission, core values, and act as a positive role model. Help to maintain a positive, friendly and safe environment in Aquatic areas.

  • Responsibilities: Work directly with swim instructor to provide lessons for children, youth and adult Proactively interact with swimmers to assist their practice Supervise and ensure safety of all participants (sign in/out, emergency procedure) Maintain pool area and deck cleanliness Greet all participants and guests with a smile Build positive relationships with YMCA staff, volunteers and members Maintain regular communication with Manager of Aquatics Complete all online trainings, program training and WHY School

Qualifications

Minimum age: we consider volunteers as young as the summer they are entering grade 9 Original Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening less than 6 months old for volunteers 18 years of age and older Minimum certificate of Bronze Medallion and Emergency First Aid preferred Strong swimming skills required Fun, friendly and enthusiastic Positive role model Hardworking, dependable and a team player Genuinely interested in being a part of the YMCA Minimum commitment of 4 months, 2 hours/week

Requirements

Requires strong swimming skills and a minimum age of entering grade 9, with Bronze Medallion and Emergency First Aid preferred. A current Criminal Record check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is mandatory.
