InnovOak School is seeking an exceptional Junior School HomeForm and English / Social Studies Teacher to join our growing team.

This position is being created as a result of continued enrolment growth and is expected to begin in September 2026.

Successful candidates will be assigned a Junior School HomeForm (Grades 1 to 6), either as a straight-grade or split-grade classroom, based on their experience, strengths, and school needs.

In addition to leading a HomeForm, you will teach English Language Arts and Social Studies across one or more Junior School grades.

For some candidates, this opportunity will include establishing a new classroom by creating the learning environment, selecting a classroom theme, organizing resources, and building a positive classroom culture before students arrive in September.

Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will: Serve as the HomeForm teacher for a Junior School classroom (Grades 1 to 6).

Teach English Language Arts and Social Studies across one or more Junior School grades.

HomeForm teachers may also teach Health, Visual Arts, Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship, and InnovOak's LifeREADY learning skills program.

Create a welcoming, organized, and structured classroom with clear routines and high expectations.

Build strong relationships with students and families.

Conduct regular teacher-student learning conversations to provide coaching, feedback, and goal setting.

Deliver engaging instruction in reading, writing, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, literature, geography, history, and citizenship.

Differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs while maintaining academic rigour.

Assess student learning using a variety of strategies and provide meaningful feedback.

Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen curriculum, instruction, and student achievement.

Contribute positively to the broader life of the school.

Qualifications

Ontario College of Teachers certification or eligibility for certification is strongly preferred. Applications from both experienced teachers and exceptional new graduates are encouraged. Bachelor of Education completed or in progress. Strong understanding of elementary literacy instruction and the Ontario curriculum. Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills. Experience with Cambridge curriculum, independent schools, or enriched academic programming is considered an asset.

Requirements
