Lead development of IEPs for students.
Ensure implementation of IEPs with classroom teachers, support staff, and parents/caregivers, including reviewing reports three times per year.
Manage FNESC SSEP funding through data collection, reporting, record keeping, and expense tracking.
Coordinate contracted professional services for student assessments and best-practice strategy advice.
Collaborate with colleagues and student caregivers to ensure recommended services and supports are provided.
Deliver interventions to support foundational literacy and numeracy.
Prepare educational objectives and course outlines aligned with curriculum guidelines and First Peoples Principles of Learning, using a trauma-informed individualized approach.
Access and use resources to support inclusive, pull-out, and traditional instruction methods.
Provide individual and small group instruction for academic and social-emotional learning support as needed.
Evaluate student progress, record results/issues, and inform teachers and parents of progress.
Connect with community resources and access additional funding for supports (e.g., counseling, after-school programs).
Schedule and lead classroom team meetings for students with IEPs or adapted/modified learning strategies.
Support school-based Haida language and cultural activities, events, and opportunities.

The Learning Assistance Teacher takes a student-first approach to promote a learning environment that supports our students' sense of well-being.
In collaboration with the school community, the Learning Assistance Teacher will implement structures, strategies and an encouraging and calm learning environment for students with varying needs and abilities to succeed academically, socially and emotionally.
