Post End Date: July 14, 2026 at 11:59 PM This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) Title of Course Teaching and Learning: Schools and Communities Compensation Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.
Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $23.30 per hour. (Rate effective September 1, 2026) Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $36.67 per hour. (Rate effective September 1, 2026) In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.
Duties The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement.
These are made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required.
Qualifications Applicants must have achieved a minimum of 80% in the course; Applicants must be at least third or fourth-year students currently enrolled in the following degrees, or who have completed an equivalent: Honours BA or Honours BSc BEd (P/J, J/I, I/S) Background in the Sociology of Education; and The successful applicant must have effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students, be punctual in attending classes, and be able to meet appropriate deadlines.
