<p><strong>After School Care Program Coordinator / Supervisor </strong></p><p><strong>The Whole School – Winlaw, BC </strong></p><p><strong>2026–2027 School Year </strong></p><p>The Whole School is seeking a caring, energetic, organized, and community-minded individual to lead our new Before & After School Care Program for the 2026-2027 school year. </p><p>This is an exciting opportunity to help build a meaningful, relationship-based childcare and enrichment program within a small rural independent school that values inclusion, emotional wellbeing, creativity, outdoor education, and whole-child learning. </p><p>We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children and is passionate about creating a calm, safe, engaging, and supportive environment where students </strong></p><p>7:15 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. </p><p><strong>After School Program </strong></p><p>3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. </p><p>Additional paid planning/preparation hours may be available. </p><p><strong>Wage </strong></p><p>$25–$30 per hour depending on qualifications and experience Plus 4% holiday pay </p><p><strong>Position Summary </strong></p><p>The Before & After School Care Program Coordinator / Supervisor is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive, engaging, and emotionally supportive environment for Kindergarten–Grade 7 students before and after the school day. </p><p>This role includes supervising children, planning enrichment activities, supporting emotional regulation and social development, communicating with families, and helping establish a positive and welcoming program culture aligned with the values of The Whole School. </p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities </strong></p><p><strong>Child Supervision & Safety </strong></p><ul><li>Supervise children in a safe and attentive manner at all times </li><li>Maintain appropriate student supervision ratios </li><li>Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed </li><li>Support smooth transitions before and after school </li><li>Maintain sign-in/sign-out procedures </li></ul><strong>Program Planning & Activities </strong><ul><li>Plan and facilitate engaging age-appropriate activities </li><li>Create calm and inclusive routines </li><li>Incorporate activities such as: </li><li>Outdoor play </li><li>Arts and crafts </li><li>Mindfulness and emotional regulation </li><li>Games and enrichment activities </li><li>Music and creative exploration </li><li>Homework or quiet support time </li></ul><strong>Emotional & Social Support </strong><ul><li>Foster positive relationships with students </li><li>Support emotional regulation and conflict resolution </li><li>Create an inclusive and welcoming environment </li><li>Encourage kindness, cooperation, and community-building </li></ul><strong>Communication & Collaboration </strong><ul><li>Communicate respectfully with families and staff </li><li>Share important information regarding student wellbeing and safety </li><li>Collaborate with teachers and administration when needed </li><li>Participate in program planning and development </li></ul><strong>Program Administration </strong><ul><li>Maintain attendance records </li><li>Support organization of supplies and materials </li><li>Help maintain clean and organized program spaces </li><li>Assist with implementing policies and procedures </li></ul><strong>Qualifications </strong><p><strong>Required </strong></p><ul><li>Experience working with children </li><li>Valid First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain) </li><li>Criminal Record Check clearance </li><li>Strong communication and organizational skills </li><li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively </li><li>Reliable, patient, flexible, and professional </li></ul><strong>Preferred Assets </strong><ul><li>Early Childhood Education (ECE) </li><li>Education Assistant experience </li><li>Child & Youth Care background </li><li>Outdoor education experience </li><li>Experience supporting neurodiverse learners </li><li>Knowledge of social-emotional learning practices </li><li>Experience in arts, music, yoga, mindfulness, or recreation programming
