Position Title
Social Work Instructor - Sessional Faculty/Instructor Profile The School of Health and Wellness at Red Deer Polytechnic is currently inviting applications for sessional Instructor(s) in the Social Work program. The Social Work program at Red Deer Polytechnic is committed to anti-oppressive practice and social justice. Faculty in the program are focused on a learner-centered teaching and teamwork environment that prepares students for employment and a foundation for further post-secondary study. The Social Work diploma program promotes ethical social work practice, social and economic justice, respect for and acceptance of diversity among peoples, and relationship building. We are seeking a Faculty Member who has knowledge of and experience with differing world views and perspectives: those of women, LGBTQ2S members, Black individuals, people of color, Indigenous communities, newcomers to Canada, eco-social workers, and rural/remote residents. The Faculty Member will be versed in critical social work theories and practices. With 1stand 2nd year students totaling approximately 160 each academic year, we are looking for a professional with the demonstrated ability and experience required to teach range of generalist social work courses. Faculty in Social Work teach a combination of theory and methods courses, as well as providing oversight and integration seminars to students in field placement. Working in an inter-connected, community-focused department, within the School of Health and Wellness, your skills in individual responsibility and collaborative instruction will promote student success. The School of Health and Wellness seeks faculty members with superior preparation and ongoing engagement in their academic and professional fields, passion for teaching, and willingness to commit to making excellence in teaching their primary focus. Position Responsibilities Responsibilities of all full-time faculty include: Delivering courses congruent with established course curricula and program outcomes. Supporting the success of students with diverse cultural and educational backgrounds and learning styles. Assessing student learning in ways that both facilitate learning and ensure achievement against appropriate academic standards. Working collegially within department, School, or Polytechnic committees and project teams. Contributing to course and program curriculum development and renewal. Engaging in scholarly activity within the domains of Ernest Boyer’s model: scholarship of discovery, application, integration, and teaching. Required Qualifications Master’s in Social Work Registered Social Work (or eligible for registration in Alberta if from out of province). Five years social work practice experience. Experienced in anti-oppressive practice and grounded in critical social work theories Knowledge of Indigenous perspectives

PhD Post-secondary teaching experience Experience with social work student field supervision Rural Social Work or Remote Social Work Practice.
