Job description
Catholic Social Services is currently recruiting for a contract, part-time summer job for (35 hours per week) in Red Deer, Alberta. The length of the contract will be 8 weeks. This position is dependent upon government funding.
Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 30 and must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada. Job Summary: As a Recreational Coordinator, you are responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering a recreation program to children and adults with disabilities. You will be supporting caregiver support groups for families impacted by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assist adults with developmental disabilities with their day to day needs Promote Agency at community events.ie. kids activities / FASD Awareness Day Attend staff meetings and participate in staff development training Work as part of the Agency team Administrative duties, such as filing, copying, scanning, shredding, supplies, special projects Participate on activities and tasks in various locations (required to travel) What This Job Requires: High school education completed Currently enrolled or completed studies in Early Childhood Development, Child and Youth Care Worker, Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Arts in Sociology/Psychology, or Disabilities programs would be considered an asset Experience working with children or adults with developmental disabilities is considered an asset Skills in planning and delivery of a program Gain knowledge of children/adults with disabilities Skills in problem solving, initiative, organizing, teamwork, communication Apply professional/technical/safety knowledge and skills that are learned Gain knowledge of policies, procedures, and health and safety expectations Development of verbal and written communication skills Technical skills- computer programs/data bases/photocopiers Development of Professional Boundaries, Confidentiality & Privacy, Respectful Workplace Work ethic – punctuality, commitment, reliability Conflict Resolution skills and how to work as a team member
Conditions of Employment
Satisfactory Security Checks including Criminal Record Check (CRC) with Vulnerable Sector Check from local RCMP or City Police detachment issued within six (6) months Child Intervention Record Check issued within six (6) months A Valid class 5 Driver’s License and vehicle that enables you to safely transport clients is required Summary of driving record with no more than six (6) demerit points current within one (1) year Vehicle Registration and Third Party Liability Insurance (amount of two million)
