Job description
- <p>Applications are invited from teachers with </p><p><strong><u>BC Certification</u></strong> for the following teaching position: </p><p><strong>Port Hardy Secondary School, Port Hardy, BC </strong></p><p>0.29 FTE Temporary – Counselling (two blocks in semester two) </p><p>open until filled </p><p><u>Commencing: ASAP to June 30, 2026</u> </p><p><u>or</u><u> return </u><u>of</u><u> the incumbent, whichever comes first</u> </p><p>The successful candidate will have the following qualifications: </p><ul><li>Master's degree in counselling; </li><li>recent successful experience as a school counsellor at the secondary level; </li><li>knowledge and understanding of the cultural values, traditions, and language of the Kwak'wala speaking peoples – Indigenous ancestry preferred;</li><li>the ability to work closely with staff in a team oriented approach to teaching and learning;</li><li>strong formative assessment practices; </li><li>knowledge and experience working with students with exceptionalities; </li><li>training and experience in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Threat Assessment, Crisis Response and Suicide Risk Assessment; </li><li>successful experience liaising with parents, school-based teams, external agencies, and community- based professionals and coordinating SEL interventions using a multi-agency approach; </li><li>strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills; </li><li>experience with RTI (Response to Intervention) systems; </li><li>strong interest in innovation and inquiry; </li><li>a desire to work in a flexible alternative learning environment; and </li><li>ability to embed local Indigenous culture and ways of knowing into teaching practices.</li></ul><p> </p><div>The starting annual salary for a full-time School Teacher position ranges from <b>$66,299 to $116,016</b>, with placement in the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
