Job description
- Woolwich Community Health Centre (WCHC), a multi-site health centre with locations in St.
- Jacobs, Linwood and Wellesley is hiring child and youth workers to support a Youth Summer Club Program in Wellesley Township.
- The Youth Summer Club is a summer day program for elementary school aged children (ages 5-12).
- The Child and Youth Workers will work as part of a team to plan and carry out the summer program focusing on literacy and promoting wellness.
- This position is 35 hours per week for 8 weeks, from June 29, 2026 to August 21, 2026 at $19.95 per hour + 4% in lieu of benefits.
- Orientation will include safety training for health care workers, including correct usage of PPE.
Responsibilities
Help with the organization, planning, implementation, and evaluation of Summer Club programs for children aged 5-12. Demonstrate leadership by taking responsibility for certain activities at Summer Club. Develop positive relationships with the community partners who enter Summer Club to deliver programming. Manage multiple competing demands at one time. Create a positive rapport with the children attending Summer Club. Responsible for the well-being and safety of young children at camp.
Qualifications
Proof of age less than 30 years (this position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program, which requires that applicants are under 30 years of age) Working knowledge of computers, including online conferencing programs. Experience in a community-based setting and/or experience with rural populations would be considered an asset. Interest in working with children ages 5-12. Ability to manage multiple demands. Commitment to working as part of a team. Knowledge of/experience with health issues facing youth and families with young children Excellent communication skills. Ability to teach activities, lead groups and resolve issues appropriately. Organizational skills. Access to a vehicle. COVID-19 vaccination required. Current First Aid and CPR are an asset. Ability to speak Low German an asset.
