Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY: The Summer Day Camp Worker will provide leadership and interactive support in the daily activities of our summer day camp program ensuring that children are constantly and consistently supervised, supported and included in games and other activities. The incumbent will work within a team to ensure that children are safe and cared for in accordance with The Salvation Army mission, values, and standards.

- Assist with the implementation of a weekly summer day camp program targeted at children ages 6-11.
- Provide interactive, hands-on support for activities, games and crafts.
- Provide constant and consistent supervision of children.
- Assist with leadership training opportunities for youth volunteers. Program
- Plan and execute games, crafts and activities for campers.
- Support meal and snack preparation, serving and clean up.
- Provide constant supervision and care during community outings.

- Maintain safety practices in compliance with health and safety standards.
- Prepare, submit, and act on incident reports when required.
- Provide calming intervention as required ensuring the safety of everyone.
- Responsible to work in compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Regulations.
- Assist in the orientation of new volunteers regarding health and safety procedures.
- Responsible to report any serious health and safety infractions or problems in accordance with policies to the Community and Family Services Team Lead.
- Ensure camp spaces are cleaned regularly according to acceptable health standards.

- RESPONSIBILITY: This position reports directly to the Community and Family Services Team Lead WORKING CONDITIONS
- This is a temporary full-time position based on 37.5 hours per week.
- Ability to repeatedly lift 20 to 30 pounds.
- Working environment is typically indoors in generally agreeable conditions, some outdoor work will be required during community outings.
- This job requires reaching, bending, and stooping frequently, working in a standing position for extended periods of time.

Completion of High School Current First-Aid/CPR Must provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre ( CPIC} or through a local police detachment Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered Related working experience is an asset. Knowledge and experience working with youth with complex needs and behaviors is an asset.

Compensation
The target hiring range for this position is $15.35 to $18.86 with a maximum of $22.64. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
