Overview
Provide identified Indigenous students opportunities to enhance social-emotional well-being while supporting academic success and cultural opportunities. Collect and maintain Indigenous student self-identification and parent consent forms (1701s) for audit compliance. Work with site Administrative Officer(s), District Indigenous Principal, and Indigenous Support Teacher to create schedules for working with Indigenous students. Maintain accurate and comprehensive student records as directed. Attend IYCW meetings as requested by the District Indigenous Principal. Provide motivation and encouragement for Indigenous students to reach their full potential. Provide academic support to Indigenous students individually, in small groups, classrooms, or designated areas. Monitor and support Indigenous students and their families; act as liaison between school and Indigenous communities within assigned catchment. Provide one-to-one and group-based socio-emotional support. Provide directed one-to-one social-emotional support as needed. Provide crisis intervention and management individually and as part of a crisis management team. Assist the school-based team with connection to outside agencies. Transport Indigenous students to designated counselling services on a limited basis. Provide Indigenous perspective to students and staff (resources connection, Indigenous worldviews/perspectives, and Indigenous healing practices). Act as a guest speaker when called upon to supplement lessons. Organize and facilitate culturally relevant experiences in school and community. Demonstrate knowledge of the Ministry of Education graduation program. Attend directed professional development in-services. Conduct home visits when requested by site Administrative Officer(s) or District Principal of Indigenous Education. Serve as a positive Indigenous role model for students, staff, and community. Perform other site and program-specific responsibilities as assigned
