Overview
Create and facilitate an engaging and productive curriculum aligned with provincial and school standards. Incorporate Read Well Literacy and JUMP Math into classroom curriculum. Develop, monitor, modify, and track student learning progress and goals, integrating Haida culture and language. Act as point-person for classroom support staff for class-related duties. Collaborate with support staff and other professionals to ensure students achieve IEP/behaviour plan/SMART goals. Adapt general lessons and plan activities to meet differing abilities. Communicate with parents/guardians throughout the year, including formal and informal reporting. Maintain strict confidentiality and security of student information and records. Supervise, coach, and mentor other professionals supporting students requiring extra support. Monitor student behavioral patterns and arrange appropriate interventions. Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and administration to address classroom challenges and support conflict resolution. Exercise judgment in modifying student behaviour using redirection and positive reinforcement within guidelines. Provide supervision of students during required school hours. Ensure regular student attendance and use DRUMS to track attendance and demographic information; notify administration of absences. Notify administration of personal absence/leave immediately to arrange coverage. Facilitate student safety and act as first point of contact for emergencies (e.g., reporting illness/injury). Participate in extra-curricular and community functions and ongoing professional growth. Perform other duties as required to support the school vision, mission, and values
