About the role

The program assistant will assist in the instruction of various band ensembles and supervise students during rehearsals, performances, and trips. They will also coordinate performances for university and community functions while representing the band program at recruitment events.

  • Overview: RMU Bands is looking for a temporary part-time program assistant to help organize and execute performances at a variety of athletic events throughout the fall semester. This position will be filled until a new Full-time Band Director is hired.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in instruction of the show band and auxiliary, along with pep and jazz bands and wind ensemble
  • Supervise students at performances, rehearsals and trips.
  • Help to coordinate performances for athletic, university and community functions.
  • Represent the band program at recruitment and orientation events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience in relevant work experience with college-aged students.
  • Knowledge of instrumental music and band presentation. Ability to work evenings and weekends. Ability to assist with producing show-style marching band, pep bands, jazz and wind bands. Strong customer-service orientation. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Required to Pass a Motor Vehicle Report Check.
