The Athletic Therapist will provide on-site and on-field medical coverage for U15 hockey games, including injury assessment, concussion management, and emergency care. They are also responsible for maintaining accurate medical records and collaborating with coaches and health center staff to support athlete recovery.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, curious, and adaptable Athletic Therapist to join our Upper School Health Centre Department. Responsibilities include providing support for the Head Athletic Therapist in assisting with the coverage of U15 hockey games.
Provide initial on-field first-aid, immediate/emergency care and management of acute injuries, including concussions:
Provide sideline concussion assessment (SCAT test) on players suspected of sustaining/suffering a concussion in the game;
Use of good judgment and quick decision making with regards to safe return to play;
Provide first-aid and emergency care for visiting school teams/athletes without a team therapist.
Assessment (SCAT test), immediate care and management of suspected concussions (*including referrals to appropriate healthcare providers (ie: Dr’s) when necessary, for further medical assessment/diagnosis and final return-to-play clearance;
Oversee students through the(ir) concussion 'return-to-play’ protocol;
Maintain up-to-date student concussion recovery/management documentation;
Regular correspondence with Head Athletic Therapist, UCC Health Center and Coaches regarding the student/athlete’s concussion, recovery process and return-to-play status.
Correspond regularly with and keep Head Athletic Therapist and Coaches informed regarding player injuries (musculoskeletal and concussions), recovery progress and playing status;
Maintain open and effective communication with athletes, coaches, therapy staff, UCC Health Center staff and parents (as needed);
Collaborate with coaches and other sports staff (ie: strength and conditioning staff) to ensure a coordinated approach to athlete care and performance;
Communicate effectively during emergencies with relevant staff (ie:
Security,
CIRT), coaches, medical professionals (ie:EMS) and parents (as needed.
