About the role

The Clinical Nurse provides accessible outpatient nursing care to students to facilitate optimal wellness. They work collaboratively with physicians to ensure an efficient and student-friendly medical office environment.

Classification: Classification “VII” per Schedule A of the collective agreement

Department: Student Health, Counselling and Wellness Services

Primary job responsibilities

The purpose of the Clinical Nurse position is to provide readily accessible nursing care to students on an outpatient basis, facilitating an optimal level of wellness, to ensure a student friendly, efficient run medical office. This will be achieved by working with physicians at Student Health, Counselling and Wellness Services in accordance to the standards of practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Essential qualifications

The successful candidate will have

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a recognized University or combination of nursing diploma and additional courses/training
  • Certificate of Competence, Ontario College of Nurses
  • 3-5 years clinical nursing experience, preferably in a primary care setting
  • Valid, current registration with the Ontario College of Nurses
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize activities with competing deadlines
  • Accuracy and attention to details
  • Excellent work ethics, professionalism, patience, collegiality, tact and diplomacy, particularly in stressful situations
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality as needed
  • Ability to maintain respect, empathy, courtesy and flexibility
  • Computer skills: Electronic Medical Records, Word, Excel, e-mail, internet searches, Power Point, etc.
  • Proven willingness and aptitude for learning, including new software and programs

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in young adult health, including mental health is desirable
