• The
• Position: Reporting to the Senior Coordinator, Sport and Recreation, and the Senior Coordinator Physical Literacy, the primary responsibility of the Sport and Recreation Coach will be to deliver quality programming for
• Abilities
• Centre programs and initiatives, including but not limited to: Child and Youth Sport Programming, Recreation Programming in the form of arts and dance activities, Community Outreach Programs, and School Field Trips. Coaches will be instrumental in creating a safe and fun environment for all participants while promoting Abilities Centre’s vision and mission.
• What
• You’ll Do: Program Delivery. You will deliver quality programming in the areas of Child and Youth Sport Programming, Recreation Programming, and Community and School-Based Programming. You will support the program delivery of Abilities Centre Para Sport Programs. You will set up and clean, sanitize, and properly take care of any equipment used during programming hours. You will foster an inclusive and welcoming environment that promotes participation, respect, and confidence. You will work with the Senior Coordinators to build and deliver programs that highlight physical literacy and positive social interaction in children’s programming. Safety and Support. You will ensure participant safety by following program policies, risk management procedures, emergency protocols, and safeguarding standards. You will identify and report equipment, facility, safety, or participant concerns to the Physical Literacy Facilitator. You will be an advocate for Abilities Centre and its vision as it pertains to physical literacy and inclusion, incorporating it into programming while being able to educate participants and members on the meaning and purpose behind the vision. You will cultivate a participant-centred environment through exceptional customer service. You will foster a work environment that values and encourages teamwork and empowerment. You will provide supervision and support to participants, creating variations in activities to meet diverse needs, abilities, and learning styles. You will establish rapport and maintain effective relationships with members, staff, volunteers, visitors, and community partners.

• You’ll
• Bring: Education and knowledge. You have, are working towards, or intend to work towards a post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Therapeutic Recreation or related field. You have previous experience coaching and/or participating in sports. You have knowledge of accessibility and inclusion. Communication and Collaboration. You have good coaching, presentation, and written communication skills. You can make connections with peers and leaders and can work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams. You are an effective team player with a positive attitude whose interactions demonstrate accountability, authenticity, and collaboration. You have exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills with a proven ability to establish rapport with people of diverse backgrounds. Organization. You demonstrate thoroughness, accuracy and attention to detail. You are flexible and able to adjust to changing priorities, and can manage multiple demands and timelines through effective planning, organizing and time management skills You are self-motivated, results-oriented, and can work independently without close supervision. You demonstrate initiative and contribute to a work environment that values and encourages innovation. Administrative Requirements. It is required that you have a current, clear vulnerable sector check (V.S.C) It is required that you have current, valid First Aid and C.P.R C / A.E.D You are flexible regarding assigned work schedule, including days and evenings.
